Let's get started!

Step 1

  • Measure and cut two side pieces of 2 x 6 lumber on the miter saw depending on your rack's size.
  • Cut a 45-degree angle on the top of each side piece to add a better look.
  • If you don't have a miter saw, a miter box will do or any saw that can be used for cutting wood.

Measure and cut four 2 x 4 lumber with the same length for two bottom pieces and two support pieces.

Step 2

  • Cut 8 pieces of PVC pipe with the same length.
  • Then cut a 45-angle to the top of each of the PVC pipes so you can easily slide the tools in place. These will be used as tool holders.
  • If a miter saw is not available, a pipe cutter will do.
  • You can also use a string for cutting pipe. See the tutorial here.

Step 3

To make a base, attach the two bottom pieces. Use the countersink bits to the predrilled holes and then screw together the two bottom pieces into an L-shaped.

Step 4

Attach the two side pieces to each side of an L-shaped bottom. Use the countersink bits to the predrilled holes and screw together.

Step 5

Attach the two support pieces into the side piece. You can add more supporting pieces if your tools are heavy and need more back support.  Make sure to space them evenly.

The top PVC should be aligned to the bottom PVC.
